Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons by Sam Steiner

My capstone project to graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma in the Spring of 2020, was to direct a short play. Under normal circumstances, this short play would have been performed in front of a live audience. However, the shift to online learning made us think of a different way to make it happen. The play I chose to work with was Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons by Sam Steiner. This play is arranged non-sequentially and carries you through the characters lives, Bernadette and Oliver, before and after a Draconian Hush Law is implemented by their government. The law limits everybody to 140 words a day, which forces people to find new ways to communicate with each other. How do you choose what words you want to say? How do you maintain a meaningful relationship with your significant other? What does it mean for future generations?

Thank you to my cast, Anevay Greenwood and Ivana Reynoso, for working on this project with me.
